A podcast? This Free OpenXTalk?
There are so many lessons here, that people have archived. So much knowledge about this modern xTalk interpretation.
We should be promoting... podcasts? Social media stuffs? YouTube? I'm sure this has been brought up before, but it would bear repeating, methinks...
The name could be better, too I'm sure.

I think that's a great idea. It would certainly involve a lot less editing than a video, and a lot less work to maintain.
I had some thoughts about how we could actually do this.
Does anyone use Telegram Messenger here?
I do, as it's handy to keep in touch with the family.
You can record audio by holding down on the mic icon.
We then have a spoken transcript from anyone participating, which I can later edit into a podcast.
What do you all think about that way of doing it? Intro music jingle: (play in browser).

Podcasts are easy to start, but difficult to maintain. And audio shows no code listings or UIs.
How about a blog?

Sometime (?) I'll pull myself together and make Youtube-type things about one or 2 bits and bobs.

I'd rather not have to use Telegram, not that I have anything against that platform.

Re: A podcast? This Free OpenXTalk?
I've been meaning to put up some more videos on YT and even did record one or two things, like showing side by side, LCCE 9.6.3 v OXT ( on macOS Sonoma so it's a short one )
I'd like to do some video on how to deploy stacks as web apps hosted on GitHub pages (for free). I have a web app in mind, a MEME Generator. We already have infrastructure for that, and everybody loves memes right?
But the last week or two I've been working on OXT DPE RC5 on Linux (MX Linux) on a 4th gen Core i5 1366x768 laptop, so that's what I'm concentrating on right now.

Yes, but also "something is better than nothing", and I don't have time to make videos.richmond62 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 7:43 pm My Granny said that a picture was worth a thousand words.
This doesn't have to be a regularly updated thing. Something with everyone chipping in snippets of conversation would give new users the gist of what it's all about.
And in the absence of anything else, I think it's something we could have across the top of the site - or in the help menu of OXT Lite at least.
It could be a recurring-3-month thing, doesn't need to be weekly or even monthly.
As far as I see it, the podcasts can serve the following without the need for video.
It can explain what the OpenXTalk project is, and where it picks up.
- What the underlying language is all about - I mean, that's why we are here and why we use it, after all.
- What are current status of the OXT project is.
- What we are planning to add next - and if anyone is listening who'd like to lend a hand, feel free to come on board.
- What we are aiming towards with the project - what's the end goal?
- Raise awareness that 'we are here' and the forum exists. (how many times do you read a page where someone is lamenting the loss of Hypercard, and completely unaware that they could be using a language that is still being added to?)
- Where people can find examples and further information.

There's not many alternatives that I'd consider any good. Not ones that don't come with the whole 'social media' side of things, which I stay away from. (disinformation repos, if you like).OpenXTalkPaul wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:11 pm I'd rather not have to use Telegram, not that I have anything against that platform.
Not saying Telegram is perfect in any way, and I know it can be used for no good (like any chat-app), but as a means of gathering audio snippet conversations and assembling them from all 4 corners of the world, I think the idea might work.
There's no pressure for anyone to give it a go, none at all. Just perhaps might sound a bit odd if I'm just talking to myself (although, that has been known to occur, more often than I'd like to admit)

Hey, I accidentally let Telegram go through my contacts and it put two of my exes on my contacts list!
... so yeah, skip that part

There is a web-interface to Telegram so I guess that could be option if one cannot install it in 'sandbox' world (otherwise I would only be able to use it from home).

Well, I've not had any takers (well, one) and we've both decided to shut the podcast channel down due to lack of interest from people.
