CURRENT STATUS - March 2025

Post by richmond62 »

we are honest with ourselves
It is very comforting to know that some people in the xTalk world are being both honest with themselves and those who 'consume' their work. 8-)

I won't be asking you for kickstarter funding, and I don't own a tatty brown sofa. 8-)

No tatty brown sofa?

You, poor, deprived chap.

Maybe you should have a fundraiser: to buy a tatty brown sofa, and be 'up there' with the @#£%^s. 8-)

No, I don't believe in fundraisers: if you raise funds, you are very much making a rod for your own back - you must absolutely deliver on what you promised, or be made to give the funds back (in my opinion).

Personally, it makes me feel slightly uncomfortable. Repeated fundraising campaigns look especially bad: Seems a bit awkward/desperate (again - in my opinion).

I think if you've raised funds, you are at the behest of your fundraisers to provide what you promised - or at least have a damn good reason why that's not going to happen - and at least have a plan B (an alternative plan if the original idea doesn't work out, which is a good alternative).

There's been so many kickstarters from so many companies that raised funds then just simply walked away - reneging on any promises and seemingly vanishing without a trace. That's just a con. Pure and simple.

I think that kind of behaviour needs to be noted at the very least, blogged about, made people aware of...
After all, there's nothing stopping the same thing happening multiple times to people if it's not common knowledge it's going on.
