It is, frankly, pathetic that when I get stuck with OXT Lite I have to crack open the LCC 963 IDE to consult its Dictionary.

Would you like to fix it then?
Hang on - not being funny when I say that, but weren't you going through the dictionary entries anyway?

I did go through the dictionary entries BUT ONLY for specific outdated guff: I most certainly did NOT touch the SWITCH entry, so:

1. The way your new dictionary stack deals with the inherited guff from 'our ancestors' plays silly buggers with it.

or

2. Someone other than me has mucked around with the SWITCH entry.

or

3. The export of dictionary items from whatever to plain text has played silly buggers with things.

Being charitable (you know me, oozing with charity) I'd favour #3

No, it's my fault.
I haven't added the ability for the dictionary to draw a table, so that's why it's missing from parameters.
Equally, it's not showing syntax. I mean, it's there in the file, but it's skipping it so it doesn't get stopped by an error.

I'll look into that when I have a moment. It actually might be a nice break from other things currently.
Having said that, I also have a house move going on, difficult buyers in a chain, and my dad's health to worry about... never a dull moment.

 Yeah, well, ageing parents, mortgages, upcoming weddings: we've all got domestic dramas of one sort or another.

Richmond's lessons from life:

1. Don't have parents ( i.e. spring from the soil like a weed).

2. Don't have children ( damn: too late).

3. Live in a cave: no bills, no rent, no comfort.

4. Don't try to be clever and sort out someone else's mess (e.g. the inherited IDE).

5. Оh, why not just slit your throat and be done with it? 8-)

That is exactly the opportunity that open source offers

That I would not dispute: but I would dispute that not all Open Source projects that had been 'handed on' were so shot full of holes as the one we "know and love".

That's bloody charming that is.

IF I had the time to rewrite the entire dictionary for my implementation, I'd make it part of the implementation itself. What I mean is that it'd just open a new tab with the dictionary search field in. I'd have a list of functions with example syntax and such, but that's a way off yet. The first job is getting it all working as it should, niceties like a dictionary can come after.

The dictionary in OXT is probably the same situation as the engine: it's easier to attempt an entire rewrite than to try and correct what's already there. (or not there).

I would suppose . . . one could repackage each entry as a web-page . . .

Yes, it is! And don't tell me you have NEVER had any of those moments: I know I have. 8-)

Mind you, I'm not sure about the 'charming': our nearest-and-dearest might not feel that when they are mopping up the blood.

If you say you like Github  you could always use the copy of the dictionary I put up there:
https://openxtalk-org.github.io/OpenXTa ... ictionary/
If you Google 'OpenXTalk syntax dictionary the first hit I get is the GitHub repo for that site (https://github.com/OpenXTalk-org/OpenXT ... Dictionary)
Of course that copy of the dictionary has a bunch of extra stuff in it, like syntax from the IDE libraries, my piano widget, etc., which you can ignore if not interested in that.

It's nice having the Dictionary in a regular web browser, because I can tear off a text clipping of an entry, drag it into a text editor and such, like for example when I need a list of properties and messages of a scrollBar control or whatever.
