Rumpled clothes

Post by richmond62 »

$395k + a decade of additional payroll burn and they're still ironing it out.
https://openxtalk.org/forum/viewtopic.p ... 873#p13873

I have a feeling that no-one across the road has been doing any ironing for at least ten years; and now they are side-stepping the ironing by changing their clothes.

Sometimes I wonder how and where all that money was actually spent.

Surely there is a moral duty to be accountable for donations one receives?

I have a feeling that Tom Perry has done more ironing in 24 months than a whole team have done in about 10 years. 8-)

One of my alter-egos has just received an email from "those people" called "Low Code News"; that while containing some vaguely interesting news snippets, does NOT actually mention the 'thing' itself at all: this strikes me as very odd indeed.

If you check the other forum, the various complaints, a lot from HH in bug reports and such, you'll see a lot of discontent about the amount of work (or lack thereof) that was done on the Emscripten engine.
As far as I can tell the probable reason for the recent increase in complaints comes down to:

1. The company has effectively 'left' their flagship product alone and stopped any noticeable development/bug-fixing on it (not that bug-fixing was ever one of their strengths) while continuing to sell their flagship product.

Parents who spend good money sending their children to learn English at my EFL school can telephone me, Viber, Telegram, Messenger, Whatsapp, and come into the school to hash things out with me: my business would go down the pan quicker than you could say "Donald Trump" if I were suddenly no longer available for feedback and support, but continued taking their money.

2. The company is ploughing what ever energy into developing the 'next great thing'; 'CREATE'.

3. An increasing number of the posts seem to refer to people trying to do things with Android and iOS rather than desktop apps: and, particularly with iOS, this sort of work is not for the faint hearted.

The world is not static, and what constitutes 'bashing' and what constitutes valid criticism from which we might learn is both subjective and a fine difference.

A company that is worth its salt does not need unpaid defenders as its skin should be thick enough to weather all types of criticism it feels is not valid, or modify its way of doing things if criticism is valid.

And a man worth his salt does not need to spend his days stewing over another's burden he doesn't understand.

And you, I would suppose, do understand things.

As a businessman of some 20 years standing I have an inkling more than a non-businessman, forbye.

And my remarks should not be construed as 'bashing', they should be taken as a response to remarks made inwith another thread, mainly as musings on what pitfalls similar businesses might be best to avoid.

Many long years syne one Alexander Dubchek spoke about Communism with a human face, and although that seems like a contradiction in terms, I do cling to the ideal of Capitalism with a human face.

And by 'human face' I mean honesty, morality, and keeping promises. And while promises are often difficult to keep, an element of contrition when they are not kept will go a long way to mollify end-users.

Now whether I understand the 'I.T. business' or not: I do understand when a person or a group of people (constituting a firm) are not demonstrating all or some of those qualities mentioned above.

Was Richmond 'bashing' or was Richard 'bashing' and Richmond quoted it? I honestly can't tell.
It seems like the same (IMO valid) criticism leveled by HH and others back in the before times.
I can't see much point to debating it here.
