webp format

Post by richmond62 »

IF OXT is going "webby" maybe the ability to cope with .webp format images would be a good thing.

This is one of the advantages of running this all in-browser. If the browser can load it, then there's a good chance it can be implemented in the interpreter.
Where you run into issues is of course with older browsers that can't handle webp format & just plain don't know what it is.

Yeah using a browser engine as the xTalk/xCard 'engine' we get 'free' support for webp and lots of other standard web supported media (like .mp4, .ogg, and animated APNGs for a few examples). It looks like now-days .webp is supported by every major bowser engine: https://caniuse.com/webp
