Minimum Drawing Library

Post by richmond62 »

A clever fellow 'over there' has posted a library:
The MDL Library is open source so I am including the MIT license statement in the final release, so it is explicitly stated.
https://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=39642
The following is the entire list of 36 visual effects and include many new ones that I’ve developed:

veBlinds, veBurn, veCheckerboard, veClam, veDissolve, veDissolveAlpha
veFadeThroughColor, veFadeTransparent, veGhostTransition, veGlitch,
veHolographic, veKaleidoscope, veLayeredGlass, veLiquid, veMagnetic,
veMosaic, veOrigamiFold, veParticleDissolve, vePixelate, vePush,
veRadialWipe, veReveal, veRipple, veScroll, veShatter, veShredder,
veSmoke, veSplit, veTile, veTimeMachine, veWaterRipple, veWipe,
veWipeWithSoftEdge and veZoom.
This library operates on the image data of an image object.

This should be in xTalk downloads forum, it's certainly not Off-Topic.
It's pretty cool, MIT license too! Thanks for posting the link.
This looks cool (after setting the label color to black) and neon-ish in dark mode!
Your stack was waaaay too tall for my laptop 1080p screen though.
You asked what's the point? I mean it seems obvious to me that it's for generating patterns to use as fillPattern on graphics and other objects.
Notice how the shadow effect indicates the transparency in the pattern I generated and used here.

I wonder what the pattern dimentions limit is? Or does it depend on the OS as I vaguely recall there may be different limits between different OSes.
Anyway, I used to have a lot of fun making repeating patterns in an old mac classic utility I had, it would offset pixels by quadrants then artist could smooth the seams with brushes/blur tool until it appears to repeat the tiles seamlessly. The larger the tile the less you'll notice repeats.
I was kind of into dark heavy-metal type imagery at the time :-P
